Balanced phono preamplifier
The Violectric PPA V790 is a state-of-the-art phono preamplifier with unprecedented features. It offers a wide range of settings, easily accessible from the front panel, along with newly developed, extremely low noise and low distortion preamplifier technology. Its multiple inputs allow up to six different pickups to be used in a single amplifier, with individual impedance, capacitance, gain and EQ control.
Up to six pickups (3 x balanced, 3 x unbalanced) can be connected simultaneously to the PPA V790. Input impedance, input capacitance, gain, equalisation, subsonic filter and output boost can be set individually for each pickup. All this is done using clearly labelled buttons and is indicated by white LEDs on the front panel. All settings are stored! The usual distinction between MM and MC pickups has been abandoned. Instead, in addition to "standard" cartridges, "MC high output" or "MM low output" cartridges can be treated individually, thanks to the wide gain setting of +30 to +66 dB.
The gain stages inside the Violectric PPA V790 are DC-coupled with cascaded super-fast bipolar input transistors for the widest bandwidth, ultra-low noise, lowest distortion and widest dynamic range. Don't expect colouration from this amplifier! Gain is adjustable in 7 steps from +30 dB (factor 30) to +66 dB (factor 2000). A clip indicator is provided to prevent operating errors.
The PPA V790 offers three DC-coupled EQs. In addition to the standard RIAA filter, NAB and Columbia LP EQs can be selected for 'exotic' recordings. The filter precision is 0.1 dB. A switchable subsonic filter helps to eliminate low frequency noise. The boost circuit, with settings of 0, +6 and +12 dB, is designed to allow the Violectric PPA V790 to adapt to almost any signal chain.
