The new RME ADI-2 Pro EX is a new milestone in the reference class
RME has launched the next generation of its popular all-in-one reference converter with the ADI-2 Pro EX. Based on the successful design of the ADI-2 Pro FS R Black Edition, the new model continues to offer high-end studio conversion, a dual headphone amplifier, a multi-format converter and an extremely precise front end for audio measurements, all with a sampling rate of up to 768 kHz, in a single device. This makes it one of the most flexible tools on the market.
The upgrades in the EX version focus on the chassis design, performance and hardware protection. Alongside a larger, better-ventilated chassis in the style of the ADI-2/4 Pro and elegant chrome feet, the device provides increased output power at the headphone outputs and a contemporary, lockable USB-C port. A channel-independent DC protection circuit, intelligent protection against overvoltage and reverse polarity at the power input, and a trigger output for synchronised power control of external devices ensure maximum reliability in everyday studio and hi-fi use. The package also includes the universal, hum-free NT-RME-13 power supply.
With its sonic transparency and extremely stable clock architecture, the ADI-2 Pro EX remains unchanged and is aimed at studio professionals, hi-fi enthusiasts and those in industrial measurement applications alike. The device is expected to be available in stores at the beginning of Q3 2026 for CHF 1699.
The new hardware design of the RME ADI-2 Pro EX offers targeted optimisations that directly impact reliability and audio performance.
Reliability improvements:
Channel-Independent DC Protection: A new hardware circuit provides complete protection for the system and ensures maximum reliability.
Advanced power supply protection: This fuse-less, active circuit reliably detects reverse polarity and overvoltage to protect the device from damage.
Optimized temperature management: The redesigned, larger enclosure has ventilation that noticeably improves the cooling efficiency of the hardware.
Rugged connections: The converter now features a modern, lockable USB-C port that prevents accidental disconnection.
Sound and performance improvements:
The power of the headphone outputs has been increased for balanced and unbalanced operation.
Noise Reduction: The included universal power supply is semi-grounded to prevent leakage currents without creating ground loops that degrade sound quality.
Uncompromising sound fidelity: Like other RME converters, the ADI-2 Pro EX relies on an extremely stable clock architecture and ultra-linear analog stages to provide the highest level of sonic transparency.
