ADAT™-AES3-S/P-DIF digital audio format and sample rate converter

The Mutec MC-4 is a multi-channel, high-performance digital audio format converter for ADAT™, AES3 and S/PDIF signals. The MC-4 converts eight channels each of ADAT™, AES3 and S/PDIF digital audio signals, with uni- and bidirectional conversions possible at up to 192.0kHz. SMUX2 and SMUX4 formats are also supported, which transfer ADAT™ signals at higher clock rates than 48.0kHz.

Logo Mutec MC-4

Unique is that the MC-4 can convert two eight-channel signal sources with different audio formats and clock rates bi-directionally and simultaneously using the X-SRC mode. For this purpose, the MC-4 is the only device in its class to include a 16-channel sample rate converter section as standard, with two audiophile-optimized PLL synthesizers guaranteeing the best sound quality in all working modes.

  • Hassle-free connection of professional and consumer devices.
  • Audiophile clock recovery and signal regeneration.
  • ADAT™, AES3 and S/PDIF format and sample rate conversions.
  • Integration of non-synchronizable devices, such as musical instruments, DAT recorders, MD recorders or audio workstations into digital studio environments.
  • Bidirectional conversions with different clock rates between sends and returns of digital mixing consoles with effects processors.
  • Uni- and bi-directional connections between computer-based sound cards with professional audio devices.
  • Can be used in small studio environments up to broadcast installations.
Mutec MC-4

An extensive feature set with various working modes allow the use of the MC-4 in a very wide range of applications. Incoming audio signals are basically converted into all three audio formats simultaneously. If clock rate conversion is required for this, the SRC section can be synchronized to a word clock, an AES11 reference (separate input available), or any audio input, for uni- or bidirectional conversion!

  • ADAT™, AES/EBU and S/PDIF interfaces in one device.
  • Format and sample rate conversions from 32.0-192.0kHz on all formats.
  • SMUX2 and SMUX4 support for ADAT™ conversions.
  • Signal enhancement through audiophile-optimized PLL synthesizers.
  • Extremely-flexible synchronization capabilities.
  • Separate AES11 reference clock input for e.g. broadcast use.
  • Converts independently and bidirectionally different clock rates: X-SRC.
  • 16-channel sample rate converter (SRC) section for bidirectional conversions.
  • Continuous signal output when incoming audio or clock reference signals are torn off.
  • All SRC working modes usable without external clock reference.
  • AES11, Grade 1, internal ultra-low jitter clock base (0.5ppm)
  • Word clock output also usable as clock reference for studio set-up.
  • Easy to configure.
  • All settings are stored in internal FLASH memory after power off.
  • Space-saving 1/2 19" chassis allows installation of two units side by side in one rack height unit.
  • Integrated, internationally usable power supply.
