With the release of macOS 26 (“Tahoe”), Apple has removed support for FireWire audio devices at the system level, which means that they no longer work. As a result, RME FireWire interfaces such as the Fireface 800 and Fireface 400 can no longer be used with this operating system.

The necessary FireWire driver infrastructure is no longer available in macOS, so it is not possible to provide driver updates or workarounds. Users who rely on FireWire-based RME interfaces should therefore either stick with macOS 15 'Sequoia' or an earlier version, or consider migrating to a current RME USB interface solution

All RME USB, PCIe, and Thunderbolt devices will continue to be fully supported under macOS 26.
