UNIKA PRO-STP
The UNiKA PRO-STP is a speaker tester designed specifically for sound engineers. In environments without power amplifiers, engineers can use the tester to output pink noise directly to test the impedance of speaker systems, or they can feed the noise to mixing consoles for general system testing. The level of pink noise can be adjusted for subwoofers, midrange drivers, compression drivers, and tweeters individually. The UNiKA PRO-STP has an XLR line output that can feed pink noise into self-powered loudspeaker cabinets.
Pressing the DC-OHMS-TEST button applies a 5 VDC voltage to the output terminals, which can be selected using the push buttons. This allows you to observe the movement of the membranes and detect polarity errors in loudspeakers and cabling. Additionally, a DC ohms test is performed with three LEDs that indicate approximate ranges of 4, 8, or 16 ohms. This is useful for identifying defective speakers in enclosures where the diaphragms are difficult to see, as well as in enclosures with multiple speakers arranged in rows.
The PRO-STP can be powered by four AA batteries or an external 1 A/6 VDC power adapter. The latter is not included.
