Fireface 802 FS
60-channel, high-end 192 kHz
USB audio interface
The Fireface 802 FS is a highly integrated pro audiosolution for live and studio use in a 19" chassis. An interface for users who don't want to compromise on sound, stability and ultra-low latency and are looking for an unrivaled professional feature set. Once again, a landmark interface from RME, with the best of the best and then some. 60 audio channels, high-end mic preamps, reference-class converters, a complete effects section, and operation at up to 192 kHz are the basis for many more features.
Discover unmatched flexibility
Ultra-low latency operation with RME USB 2 technology, combined with legendary RME driver stability and maintenance. SteadyClock FS jitter suppression, individually switchable reference levels for all inputs and outputs, full stand-alone functionality and identical operation under Windows PC and Mac complete the package..
The Fireface 802 FS is based on a newly developed analog and digital board. While the analog board offers, for example, DC-coupled analog outputs and new AD and DA converters, the digital board also enables interesting new features thanks to updated high-tech components.
The front panel of the Fireface 802 FS features four powerful XLR/TRS combo inputs for microphone, instrument and line signals, as well as two stereo headphone jacks with +17 dBu output levels to achieve high volume levels even with high-impedance headphones.
Connections & Features
The rear panel reveals the full connectivity of the Fireface 802 FS. Besides MIDI and word clock I/O, two optical ADAT I/Os, one AES/EBU I/O, and eight balanced analog inputs and outputs with line level are available. With the new multi-mode, the two ADAT I/Os can be used as separate optical SPDIF inputs and outputs in addition to the AES I/Os. A USB A port is available for direct connection of the optionally available ARC USB.

USB 2 Class Compliant Audio
The Fireface 802 FS operates in two different modes: Driver-based USB 2 and Class Compliant. The Class Compliant mode is a standard that is natively supported by operating systems such as Windows, macOS and Linux distributions. No proprietary drivers are required, the device is directly recognized when the CC firmware is loaded. The alternate CC mode can be activated via a recessed button directly on the back of the interface.
The Fireface 802 FS offers full USB 2.0 support in Class Compliant mode. This makes all channels available in driverless operation for Linux, Mac and iPadOS. An iPad Pro with USB Ccan manage up to 60 channels for recording and playback in TotalMix FX for iPad and at the system level.
DC-coupled outputs
Most audio interfaces are traditionally equipped with so-called "AC-coupled outputs," which use capacitors to filter out extremely low frequencies.
While these frequencies are generally considered undesirable in audio, as they can eat up headroom and potentially damage other equipment, DC coupling is desirable in the world of modular synthesizers, where static or slow signals are used to control various parameters such as pitch values or LFOs.
All line-level outputs of the Fireface 802 FS are fully DC-coupled, allowing the sending of control voltages (CV) or gate information to modular synthesizers (such as the popular Eurorack and Moog/MOTM/synthesizer formats) and other studio hardware.
ARC USB Remote Control
The ARC USB connects to the computer via USB and communicates directly with TotalMix FX. It features 15 freely assignable, illuminated buttons, an encoder wheel and a jack socket for connecting a footswitch.
The ARC USB is a USB 1.1 MIDI remote control for the Fireface 802 FS. As a UAC-1 device, it is natively compatible with Windows and macOS. Once logged into the operating system, the ARC USB is automatically recognized by TotalMix FX and communication to control the 802 FS is via simple MIDI commands.
